A fun and creative history project lesson for students in the last week of term. Could be used for activities week in Humanities or just as a reward lesson the last time you see your class for the summer. Very easy to set up - you will just need a few balloons, string, sellotape, felt tips and a bag of old clothes. The students work in small groups to research and recreate a famous historical figure (info sheets and clip tasks included - all instructions on Powerpoint). The lesson can last as long as you want it to, and I gave prizes of sweets at the end for the best one - but that’s optional! My students really enjoyed it and we took pictures at the end for the school website. Hopefully yours will love it too. I’m going to be adding lots more free History lessons over the coming months. Round 8: AI Animal-Merge In this round, students should guess which two animals the AI has merged together in a hideous affront to nature! Round 9: Gaming A round for the gamers - be as quick as you are on those consoles. Round 10: Random and Ready Riddles Silly cereal-box trivia, a bit of English word-play, maths brain teasers and general knowledge thrown in for good measure. The quiz is easy to use, interactive and editable. It’s designed for secondary students. You could tweak it for upper KS2 if you wished - but it is challenging. I really hope you enjoy this, I enjoyed making it and tried to make it funny so teachers would enjoy using it too. A fun Year 7 History lesson which can be used either on a transition day or in the first week at secondary school as an introduction to history. The lesson focuses on familiarising students with the key skills they will be using throughout history lessons in KS3- source analysis, source comparison, chronology and literacy through history (spag and essay skills). It includes engaging teamwork tasks, fact-finding activities and lots of introduction to new key terms.

Israel - Palestine Conflict - this lessons covers the origins of the troubles in the Middle East. This is an hour long, fully resourced lesson with Powerpoint, differentiated tasks throughout, worksheets, clip link and accompanying task all about the history and origins of the Palestinian conflict. There is a debate focus on who is to blame and who does the land rightfully belong to, with a 20 min assessment task at the end complete with all materials to mark and feedback. A fun quiz, designed for form time, lasting around 15 minutes that can be used in Remembrance week. The linked clips from Blackadder are optional, they are short two minute videos designed to compliment the answers to the questions.

This lesson covers the history of Halloween and why people celebrate it, but also how to celebrate safely - especially when it comes to ‘Trick or Treating’, from road safety at night, to choosing carefully which houses to knock the doors of. This resource pack includes a one hour long PowerPoint with accompanying worksheets, well differentiated activities, literacy focus tasks, clip tasks with three-way differentiated questions and information sheets. The lesson has been left editable and is filled with engaging, well differentiated and fun activities.
